Visitors are most welcome An Introduction to Our Club "Heworth Golf Club really is an absolute gem" In 2012 the club celebrated it's Centenary year and we are proud that we have continued to grow in stature throughout our 100 year history. We continue to adapt to change and to the demands of modern times while maintaining the traditions of golf and the traditions of Heworth Golf Club. Our course has matured into one of the most respected courses in the area and is always immaculately presented and boasts the best greens in the North East of England. In 2009 the club hosted the Northern Counties match between the Durham County Golf Union and the Yorkshire Union of Golf Clubs. In 2011 we hosted the Durham County Golf Union County Championship and in our Centenary Year 2012 we hosted the English Golf Union Seniors County Finals. For this we are honoured and immensely proud. We have always offered a friendly welcome to all who visit our club and we would be delighted to welcome you as our guest. We offer free membership to Primary School aged children alongside this, we are offering golf coaching. We are also a 'Play More Golf' centre where again we are offering the opportunity for those adults who wish to take part in golf for the first time or those who wish to return to golf. All coaching is through our PGA Professionals - Adrian and Warren Marshall. Coaching opportunities may entail free social membership of the club subject to conditions. Watch out for 2020 when we are hosting: EnglandGolf: England Boys' Open Amateur Stroke Play Championship (The McGregor Trophy) The McGregor Trophy The McGregor Trophy was founded as a boys golf tournament in 1982 at the Radcliffe-on-Trent Golf Club by Roy Case, later to become President of the English Golf Union. The trophy was donated by Matt and Kathy McGregor, former captains of the club. The competition was adopted in 1993 by the English Golf Union as the English Boys Under 16 Open Amateur Stroke-Play Championship. It is now played at various venues around England, but returns to Radcliffe-on-Trent Golf Club at five year intervals reflecting the inauguration of the trophy at this course. It is open to golfers of all nationalities in possession of a playing handicap not exceeding 5.4 under the CONGU Unified Handicapping System or a comparable scheme operated by a recognised overseas Golf Union, Federation or Association. It consists of 72 holes of stroke play over three days, 18 holes being played on each of the first two days. After 36 holes, the leading 40 competitors and all those tying for 40th place play a further 36 holes on the third day.
