A big conversation about what adult social care should look like in the future has begun, and we want the views and voices of Gateshead communities to be part of it.
The conversation is about our services that support people across the borough at some point in their lives - if that's you, a neighbour, or a friend or family member.
Whether you get care, provide unpaid care for someone else, work in the care sector or are simply interested in the future of care, everyone's opinion can help bring about meaningful change to adult social care and how it can be accessed.
To do that, the conversation will include tough questions on who a National Care Service should support; what families should reasonably be expected to do; and how the country should pay for care in a fair and sustainable way.
The Big Conversation on Care starts off by asking: when we are old or disabled, or have a serious illness, who should support us and how?

The Big Conversation on Care will end by April 2027, and the Independent Commission's recommendations will be shared by summer 2027
