Whickham Volunteer Library

Whickham Library has been run by volunteers since 2017. Our aim is to provide the local community with access to a wide selection of books for all ages, as well as a comfortable and welcoming environment for members of our community who wish to have somewhere to read the papers, meet with others, have a cup of tea or coffee, or simply relax. We are a Warm Welcome partner, and you will definitely find a warm welcome any time you come to the library. Have a seat in the main library, or try a comfy chair or sofa in the Library Lounge.

The library runs a weekly film show on a Wednesday afternoon. Rhyme Time happens twice weekly, on Mondays and Thursdays. Contact the library to book a space for your little one..

We can provide users with information on local resources, and about events both in the library and the local area. There are computers available for public use, as well as a printer. We also have free Wi-Fi.

We have a Gateshead West Uniform Scheme donations point in the library, so please bring along any unwanted or outgrown uniform for them to re-distribute.

Once a week on a Monday our Dungeons and Dragons adventurers meet up. If  you, or someone you know, is aged 12 - 18 and they would like to take part, email denisewvla@gmail.com to find out more.

Please either pop into the library, check out our web site, www.whickhamlibrary.com, or email us on whickhamlibrary@gateshead.gov.uk. We look forward to seeing you.
