Friends of Watergate Park on Lobley Hill are an informal voluntary group of people who come together every first Saturday of the month to take part in a litter picking session from 1 - 2.30pm.  We meet in the main car park on Whickham Highway.

The litter picking equipment will  be provided, and volunteers will be provided with a risk assessment prior to the session being held.  Volunteers will be asked to complete a register when they attend and will be asked to disclose any medical conditions which will need to be supported. The main contact for the sessions is Julie Scott.

Volunteers are encouraged to get in contact to say which sessions they would like to take part in.  All volunteers are welcome, you can take part as an individual, as a family,  or as part of a group of people coming together to volunteer on a one off occasion.

Skills needed

Volunteers need:
- to be friendly and welcoming
- work well in a group
- enjoy working outside.

Benefits for the Volunteer

As well as making new friends, volunteers will also be improving their mental and physical health by walking for up to 90 minutes in our beautiful park, breathing in fresh air and getting to spend time with nature. They will also be taking part in a much appreciated community activity.
