“To begin with I was nervous and shy. Way out of my comfort zone. If anything, I thought it was going to be quite boring; but how wrong was I? From the minute I walked into the building I was made to feel very welcome.”
Since February, Future You has seen hundreds of participants take part in its activities, taking steps in their own way to realise their ambitions and move closer to employment. Paul is one of these people, and today he wanted to tell us in his own words what the Future You journey has been like for him.
Paul successfully completed the Telephone Skills & Call Centre Training course and following this secured an interview, which also went very well. Wanting to go further, Paul also enrolled in the Level 1 Customer Service course. Any problem that Paul previously had with nerves are long gone, as he says his outlook has been changed considerably.
My time at Future You
Paul adds "The (telephone skills) course itself was amazing. You were made to feel like part of the family from day one, and they catered for everyone’s needs. It wasn’t like being in a class at school it was more like being around friends. I personally loved both courses and learned loads along the way.
I went from a shy, quiet lad to a lad that feels he can take on the world. That’s a credit to the way that the course providers conducted themselves with me and others in the group. Everyone I spoke to was a credit to their organisation.
I’d like to thank John, Mark, Jenny and Louise from the bottom of my heart for all of the time you spent with me and the time and guidance you’ve given me for the future. I hope I can make you proud in the future. I managed to get an interview and a job from the Telephone Skills course, and I already feel like part of the family."
We’d like to wish Paul all the best in his new role and are delighted to see he has managed to get so much out of the project. Like Paul, finding your wings can be anything from getting yourself out of a bad situation to making moves to get back into work.
