The Nativity scene in Whitehall Road Methodist Church, Gateshead

Everyone receives a cordial welcome to our informal family Christingle carol service as we make our final preparations for the big day!

Come and sing Christmas carols, and hear how the Angel Gabriel guides Mary and Joseph, as we follow them on their journey to Bethlehem. Our minister Rev Brigitta Steele leads us in Christmas fun for children and adults alike, as we explore the true meaning of Christmas. Please note that an entirely voluntary offering will be taken during the carol service.

A Christingle service is named after the Christingles that are lit during our time together. Christingles are made from an orange decorated with a red ribbon, dried fruit or sweets, and a candle. The orange represents the world, the ribbon symbolises the love and blood of Christ, dried fruit represents everything in God’s creation. Finally the lit candle represents Jesus as the light in the world, bringing hope to people living in darkness.

All of this year's Christmas carol services can be seen here.

The church is completely wheelchair accessible. We have our own private car park and plenty of free on-street parking surrounding the church.
