Girls’ Brigade is a world-wide Christian charity working with churches to provide fun and inspiring local groups, where girls and young women can belong, achieve and discover Jesus!

GB groups, called companies, are primarily for girls and young women aged 4 to 18 of every background, ability and culture. It is led by Christian women from local churches who are trained volunteers, committed to providing a regular time of activities and skills for girls and young women. The charity seeks to enable girls and young women to develop in confidence, ability, friendship and citizenship, and is committed to nurturing the unique value of every girl in its care.

The 1st Gateshead Company was formed in 1907 and is the third oldest company in the world still in existence! We meet in the hall of Whitehall Road Methodist Church every Tuesday between 6pm and 7.30pm during the school term.

The 1st Gateshead company is run by fully-trained volunteer leaders who are all DBS-checked. The company meets in a safe environment where they are designated first aiders. For more information about the aims, background and history of the Girl's Brigade, take a look at the UK website.
