Our befrienders are carefully screened and checked; we ask for two references, passport ID and a photo.
Befrienders fill in a detailed screening and profiling questionnaire and are asked to read this guide, HostNation then telephones each applicant to discuss the role and ensure suitability.

You will need to upload a copy of your passport when applying.

Can you spare a couple of hours a week to help someone feel more welcome in the North East? 

Befriend a refugee / asylum seeker and socialise as you would normally do with a friend!

Be active in exploring the area and introducing your new friend to places they may never have been to! 

Support your new friend in starting their life here, make them feel more comfortable and share heritage and culture.
