Details

As a committee member you must be over the age of 18 and we will require references and a DBS check.

This role is to support our Diabetes UK Gateshead Group as a committee member. This group meets once a month at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead. Attendance at these meetings and committee meetings will be expected.

Adjusting to the knowledge that you or a family member has diabetes takes time and it's often helpful to meet other people who have been through a similar situation. Our network of local groups can offer understanding, help and support at an important time. They are based in the community and are run by a committee of dedicated volunteers, each having different skills and experience.

Committee members are essential to helping the group run smoothly, from supporting group meetings to helping advertise the group in the local area. There is something for everyone to get involved.

What you will be doing: Working with the rest of the committee to plan and coordinate the group’s activities, Support the group to run events and hold meetings in the local area, Help to plan and identify new opportunities for the group, Help out at group meetings, for example welcoming people or helping to serve refreshments, Identify new places for the group to advertise, Help to run awareness stalls across the local area to raise the profile of the group and Diabetes UK.
