About us:

Sight Service works with visually impaired people of all ages in Gateshead.

Sight Service is the leading local provider of services and support for people who are visually impaired and live in Gateshead or South Tyneside. Our advice, information and support can enable visually impaired people to have the quality of life which many sighted people take for granted. We also promote greater public awareness of sight loss and work towards achieving better and more accessible public services for visually impaired people.

Sight Service has two well-equipped resource centers. Facilities include meeting rooms, training kitchens, IT training areas, information to take away and displays of specialist equipment from basic daily living aids to accessible computers with screen reading and magnification software.

Specialist services include provision of information, developing daily living skills, training, displays of specialist equipment, equipment sales, tele-support, home visiting, empowerment, advocacy and an annual exhibition, plus, a choice of opportunities for socialising, being active or creative, volunteering and work experience.

You are welcome to visit either resource centre

Sight Service has various  events that take place in our Gateshead and South Tyneside Centres. Our range of opportunities offer you the chance to try something new, develop a hobby and of course meet new people and make new friends.
