The Redheughers Community Ceilidh Band

The Redheughers Ceilidh Band is a long established country dance band co-operative, led and tutored by Rachael Hales. We meet, practice and play every Tuesday throughout the year.

The band offers regular performance opportunities, playing for Tyneside Ceilidh Nights on the second Tuesday of each month at Gateshead Masonic Hall, as well as providing dance music and a caller for private functions.

We offer opportunities for people with some musical ability to:

• Experience the discipline of playing together in a band
• Develop skills and expertise in musical execution
• Learn a wide repertoire of dance tunes, including jigs, reels, hornpipes, strathspeys, waltzes and two-steps
• Play a variety of folk and traditional tunes in two and three part harmony, arranged specifically for the band by Robin Dunn and Rachael Hales
• Appreciate and understand local dance music and dancing
• Perform regularly for public dances, private functions and in occasional concerts

The Redheughers are available to play for parties, weddings and charity events. We provide everything for a super ceilidh - caller, band and sound equipment. We are a large band but can bring a smaller group to suit your venue and occasion.

Every Tuesday evening (except for the second Tuesday in each month) we meet for our practice sessions at the Central Bar, Half Moon Lane, Gateshead, NE8 2AN, which start at 7pm and finish at 9pm.
