Don't miss the Land of Oak & Iron Local Groups Forum

View of Nine Arches viaduct in Derwent Valley

Land of Oak & Iron's (LOI) first Local Groups Forum is being held on Saturday 1st April and will offer community groups and organisations an opportunity to find out how LOI can help and support them.  It will also be a great way to meet other groups and promote their own activities.  Full details of what the Forum will involve and how to book are on the website: www.landofoakandiron.org.uk/events.

At the Local Groups Forum there will be more information about the Community Grants programme, the benefits of group involvement, information about the fantastic natural, cultural and industrial heritage and a chance to find out about the Friends of Land of Oak & Iron a new group which is currently being developed.  Come along to find out more about what this new group may look like or perhaps to get involved in developing it.

Land of Oak & Iron focuses on the Derwent Valley and surrounding area including Blackhall Mill, Chopwell, Crawcrook, Greenside, High Spen, Rowlands Gill, Ryton, Winlaton, Winlaton Mill and Whickham. This is an area with a fascinating industrial heritage of pioneering ironworks, steel furnaces and sword making; a beautiful natural heritage of steeply wooded valleys and a rich cultural heritage of rapper dancing, music and arts.  With hidden treasures to discover, beautiful landscapes to explore and so many ways to immerse yourself in the culture, don't miss out on your chance to get involved.

LOI is supported by National Lottery players through the Heritage lottery Fund and is hosted by Groundwork NE & Cumbria.
