Community Led Local Development in Gateshead – your help is needed

Gateshead Council Logo

We need your help in putting together a Local Development Strategy for Gateshead. This Strategy will outline how we would seek to allocate £1m-£2m of European Social Funds and European Regional Development Funds through Community Led Local Development to help local people move towards and into employment and develop and support businesses and social enterprises in the area to grow and create jobs. This is focussed on an eligible area within the Borough and these funds are not guaranteed. However, with your help we can make the case for accessing this funding for Gateshead.

We are also developing a Local Action Group of people from across the private , voluntary and community and public sectors to oversee the Strategy and the allocation of any funding secured. To help us access this funding we need you to complete this short questionnaire:

By completing this questionnaire you are helping us to make the case for accessing this funding. We would also like to know if you or your organisation would be interested in getting involved in a Local Action Group, which would help to decide on which projects to fund, should our bid be successful.

We need as many people and organisations to participate as possible so please share this questionnaire with any contacts you have in the area.

We will also be delivering a drop-in session on:

Monday 23rd May between 3pm and 7pm at Citizens Advice Gateshead, The Davidson Building, Swan Street, Gateshead, NE8 1BG

Please come along at any time during the above hours to speak to a member of our team. This informal drop-in session will focus on providing further information about the programme, identifying key priorities for the area and potential project ideas, and to raise awareness about the Local Action Group and the need for businesses and voluntary and community sector representatives.

Centrifuge Consulting (www.centrifuge.coop) have been commissioned by Gateshead Council on behalf of the interim Local Action Group (LAG) to develop the Local Development Strategy and further develop the LAG. If you intend to attend the drop-in session or would like further information, please email Liam Marsh of Centrifuge Consulting at liam@centrifuge.coop. If you would like further information from Gateshead Council please contact Steve Reay at stevereay@gateshead.gov.uk.

This work is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and European Social Fund (ESF).
