Gateshead Council’s Neighbourhood Management Team

About us: 

The Team operates across the whole of Gateshead, split into 5 area teams (Central, East, Inner West, South and West). The team;

  • Works closely with community groups and residents across Gtaeshead
  • has named officer support  for Councillors
  • helps the Council, partners and local organisations maximise the effective use of their resources—through smarter targeting, and exploring equitable and innovative ways of delivering services to ensure community  development and cohesion
  • coordinates effective approaches to resident involvement to meet Council priorities, including regeneration and health & wellbeing
  • leads the Council’s area and neighbourhood working approach, to improve the well being of our communities, and reduce inequalities
  • oversees the management and co-ordination of community centres in Gateshead
  • supports the delivery of Gateshead Council’s Corporate Plan through ward councillor support, coordination of Cabinet Area Portfolios, developing democratic involvement and engaging communities.
  • Develops area and neighbourhood priorities
  • creates and coordinates effective working relationships with partners, volunteers and the community at area level
  • Works closely with Gateshead Community Network to improve involvement and engagement of the local community in Gateshead

Reading Hack - Volunteering & marketing opportunity for young people aged 13-22

These activities will take place in libraires across Gateshead.  Volunteers can be matched to the most suitable libraries depending upon their location and skills etc. 

Reading HACK- Volunteering & Marketing opportuinty for young people aged 13-22 years old (direct with Gateshead Council)

Reading Hack turns reading on it's head.  It's a youth-led programme for 13-22 year olds, who gain skils and experience by volunteering and take part in the creative activities known as "hacks". 

Skillsmatch buddy, West End Refugee buddy

Skillsmatch is an online platform that matches the skills, experience and interests of sylum seekers and refugees with a broad range of volunteering opporutnities in Gatehead areas.
