Skillsmatch Buddy Volunteer, West End Refugee Service

Skillsmatch is an online platform that matches the skills, experience, and interests of asylum seekers and refugees with a broad range of volunteering opportunities in Gatehead areas., Skillsmatch buddies provide one-to-one support to clients who are interested in accessing these volunteer opportunities. 

Volunteer buddies assist clients who are interested in accessing these volunteer opportunities. 

Volunteer buddies assist clients with writing their profiles for the Skillsmatch website, help them to identify and positively articulate their skills, experience and interests, support with the application and provide an initial visit to their chosen volunteer role. 

The project is looking for volunteers who:

• have an ability to make a good relationship with the persons who you are buddying
• have an ability to work sensitively and offer support to others
• have good listening and communication skills
• possess good IT skills (web, email, Microsoft office) and can maintain confidentiality
• Can provide support in a non-judgemental, consistent and reliable way. 
• Are willing to complete all parts of the induction training, additional mandatory training, and 6 monthly supervisions
• Can volunteer for a minimum of 6 months.

The volunteer role will be for a couple of hours every week or fortnight, a minimum of 6 months commitment after induction.  Any of the following, Monday & Tuesday daytime, Wednesday afternoon, Thursday & Friend mornings.  Ideally available some Wednesday afternoons 2:00pm - 4:00pm
