Independent Age

Whatever happens as we get older, we all want to remain independent and live life on our own terms. That's why, as well as offering regular friendly contact and a strong campaigning voice, Independent Age can provide older people and their families with clear, free and impartial advice on the issues that matter: care and support, money and benefits, health and mobility. With the help of our committed volunteers, we provide Friendship Services for older people to relieve loneliness and isolation.

These are delivered through regular phone calls, visits, telephone discussion groups and more. A Charity founded over 150 years ago, we're independent so older people can be. We are developing our work in Gateshead and looking to support more older people with our face to face friendship service and to increase our volunteers to help in this valuable work - please contact our local office for more details:
