Blaydon Youth and Community Centre sits at the very heart of the community and acts as a lifeline for adults and children of all ages, who take part in a wide range of activities bringing together the community of Blaydon and the surrounding areas.

Blaydon Youth and Community Centre was originally set up in 1957 with the aim of providing a safe and inclusive space for all members of the community to socialise, learn, and keep fit and healthy (both physically and mentally!).

We moved into our current premises on Shibdon Road in 2014 and are now able to offer even more great opportunities due to the excellent facilities we have at the Centre, including;

  • A large and versatile sports hall Including; Basketball, Badminton, Football, and Netball Courts, alongside soft play and a small horizonal traversing climbing wall!
  • A Social area with TV, Computers, pool table and air hockey table.
  • A well-equipped kitchen/Café
  • Two multi-purpose rooms, mainly used for training, meetings, and smaller classes.
  • A large playroom and outdoor play area which is used daily by our Pre-School and After School Club.
  • A brilliant garden and horticultural area with our very own poly tunnel

A management committee consisting of volunteer trustees, and a CEO run the centre, alongside a brilliant team of both paid staff and volunteers.  Blaydon Youth and Community Centre has a huge range of exciting opportunities for people of all ages and abilities from parent and baby groups to afternoon tea with residents of local care homes.

Our on-site pre-school nursery, led by a team of highly qualified and experienced staff has a brilliant reputation and is very much focused on providing all of our children with the best possible experience within a fun, safe, and educational learning environment.   Alongside this, we also have a very popular After-School Club from 3pm until 6pm each evening, whereby we pick children up from three local schools and take them back to the centre to take part in a variety of fun and engaging activities.

Both our Pre-School and After School Club are registered with Ofsted and gain a rating of Good at our last inspection.
