Our Gateshead

Sunniside History Society

About us:

An extremely active history society covering a wide range of subjects, delivered by guest speakers and inhouse presentations.

We are an active history society and meet on the first Tuesday of each month in the luxurious Sunniside Club Concert Room. The Club is extremely successful and attracts a huge following.

As well as our monthly meetings the History Society produces books and dvds. We research a wide range of subjects, including the mining heritage of the local villages, a world war two local air crash, and the Bronte family. Much more can be found on our alternative society web site, which has well over two million hits.

Our books and dvds can be found in Gateshead libraries. Our latest book is 'Like Carrying Coals To Newcastle' with a DVD 'From Pontop Pike To The Tyne'.

Our first print of 1,000 copies sold out in record time. To meet increased demand we have arranged a further re-print of 500 copies.
