WARNING - Bogus Officials working in Gateshead

Northumberland Police have provided the following information.

Over the past week there have been several instances of Bogus Callers targeting elderly people with in our area.

On one particular occasion a Elderly lady was targeted in the Windy Nook area of Gateshead, she was targeted by two males who were claiming to be from the Water Board, these males managed to gain access to her property. Using a story on water pressure and dirty water in the pipes. As one male was talking to her the other looked through her house taking £2,500 pounds in savings.

Several other incidents of the same type have been reported to us over the past week regarding the same. These people seem to be targeting people who are still living independently in the community who have access to there own money, they don't seem to targeting old peoples sheltered accommodation as such as privately run homes.
