WANTED - Community Groups to Earn Cash Promoting Health Checks

Community groups are being sort to run a pilot scheme to roll out NHS Health Checks in local venues.

A pilot programme is being established to engage community organisations in the roll out NHS Health Check sessions at local venues. We are looking for five community organisations or groups in Gateshead to step forward for this challenge. Your time and effort will be financially rewarded. The pilot will start in January 2012.

Background

NHS Health Checks is a programme to identify people who may be at increased risk of developing heart disease, stroke, diabetes and kidney disease. The check is for adults aged between 40 and 74 who have not already been diagnosed with one or more of the conditions known to increase risk of developing these four diseases. People can then be given treatment, advice and tailored support to meet their individual circumstances. Gateshead organisations are committed to the NHS Health Checks programme, as an important way that health can be improved.
