Volunteers Make a Difference

Fifteen of our volunteers helped Make a Difference by tidying up an allotment in Kibblesworth.

Jobs included general garden tidying, tidying up a polytunnel and portastore, potting, painting fences and weeding.

Volunteers were supported by Harvest and Help, Community Links and Gateshead Supported Volunteers Programme.

Volunteer Matthew Hewitt said: “I enjoyed the day and it made me feel like I was making a difference and helping other people.”

Mayor and Mayoress of Gateshead, Councillor Joe and Mrs Jen Mitchinson, came along to show their appreciation.

Make a Difference Day is the UK’s biggest annual volunteering event in the UK.
