Volunteer Story

Margaret wanted to become a volunteer to get out more and meet other people. She had heard about the training that GVOC offers through the Volunteer Centre. Having previously worked in a charity shop, she wanted to continue to help other people, working with 45-50 year olds, because she is a similar age.

“I thought the training was really good and I learned a lot from it,” said Margaret, “The people in the training groups were really nice and I made a lot of friends.”

When we asked Margaret what could be improved in the training, she said it would have been better if they had more time for written work, as she would like to improve these skills.

Margaret said she hoped to have helped people within the next year.
