Volunteer Michelle

We interviewed new buddy Michelle Lowery on her experiences as a volunteer.

VC: Why did you want to become a buddy?

M: To gain a wider knowledge and understand the main area that I’ve chosen to volunteer in.

VC: Where did you hear about the position?

M: From do-it.org.uk

VC: What do you want to get out of becoming a buddy?

M: I’m hoping to go into full time employment.

VC: Have you done similar volunteering in the past?

M: I’ve worked with Mencap. I helped arrange events such as discos.

VC: What age range would you like to work or volunteer with?

M: Any, but mostly young adults.

VC: What did you think of the training we provide?

M: The training was very good, I learned disability awareness and hazard awareness.

VC: What was the group like?

M: Very friendly

VC: If you could change anything about the training, what would it be?

M: The length of the course.

VC: Why did you choose this type of volunteering?

M: I’ve always wanted to do this sort of work?

VC: Where do you find yourself in the next year?

M: On the way to employment
