The Benefits From Singing

                                                 The Benefits from Singing.

After the Christmas period when Grandchildren and Parents returned to areas far flung ,it was time to catch up on some reading.

A theme that I found in a number of news papers and magazines concerned the advantages of singing. Surpisingly they had to do with our Health. It was discovered that people who sang strengthened their immune system and reduced stress. A survey from Sydney University and also Canterbury Christ Church University showed that singing inproved the lung function and raised the level of feel good hormones, endorphins in a similar way to exercise. This coupled with the brain exercise of learning and memorising the lyrics gave everyone a great boost.

The success of the BBC documentary featuring Gareth Malone and the Military Wives Choir has led to a boom in Choral Singing. Singing with a choir brings friendship and a sense of belonging.
