Gateshead Older Peoples Assembly

The "Voice" of older people in Gateshead
Who are we?
In 1999 a feasibility study was conducted to look at setting up an Older People's Forum. A steering group of 10 to 12 older people was set up and began exploring the most appropriate way to represent older people. The group met on a regular basis to look at the issues affecting older people in Gateshead.
In 2002 we became an independent organisation and in 2007 at the request of Gateshead Council we became an Assembly which is a great achievement and testament to the hard work of our staff, management committee and volunteers.
We work with local government, health services and transport providers and many other organisation to ensure your voice is heard where is matters.
With a current membership of over 2050, we speak up on behalf of ALL older people in Gateshead, we are their 'Voice'
Members are kept upto date on upcoming events, consultations, focus groups and news via our quarterly newsletter 'The Voice'.
Membership is free and open to anyone over the age of 50 living in Gateshead.
