The Derwent Valley Bio-blitz

 

A fun and informative, free event from 6am Saturday 4th June to 6am Sunday 5th June, ‘drop-in’ to the Thornley Woodlands Centre, from 10am to 5pm on Saturday 4th, to discover how many species have been seen or to join one of the public events

 

Come  along to the Derwent Valley Bio-blitz, the North East’s biggest hunt for wildlife to: learn more about the amazing wealth of Wildlife in Gateshead’s’ premier countryside site, discover more about the Open University’s iSpot website or join one of the guided walks:

6am – Accompany the Durham Bird Club at the start of the Bio-blitz for a Dawn Patrol Guided Walk (please book for this event, see below)

2pm - Accompany the Northumbria Botany Group on a Guided Walk to learn more about the wildflowers of the local woodlands

‘How to get there’

By public transport - catch the ‘Red Kite’, services 45, 46 & 46A, from Newcastle Eldon Square, Newcastle Central Station and Gateshead MetroCentre, get off at the Woodlands Centre.

By car –off the A1, at junction signposted for Consett, along the A694, approximately 2.5km, car parking at the Thorrnley Woodlands Centre
