ADVANCE
"Advance is a community based group designed to integrate isolated members of society back into the community through outdoor activities, education & social integration whilst raising self-esteem, confidence & motivation."
Advance are a group providing support to individuals who may otherwise become isolated from the rest of the community. Aithough our group is inclusive and open to all, at the moment it is mainly made up of men who have previously accessed other services from statutory and voluntary agencies in the way of drug, alcohol and mental health services. We paln to target the 'hard to reach' audience within this area of high deprivation.
Our aims are set out below:
- To advance and promote the health and well being of adults suffering from substance misuse who are, or in danger of becoming addicts through the provision of physical, social, physiological activities and healthy lifestyles.
- To promote and advance the education of people suffering from substance addiction through peer support, advice and complementary alternative therapies.
- Provide social activities and support which will promote independence and combat isolation.
- To provide help and support for those committed to recovery from substance misuse, or actual or threatened social exclusion, through appropriate group activities, training and complementary therapy work, to promote integration into the whole community
We deliver our group from Windmill Hills Community Centre and Leam lane Community Centre.
